Yay, it’s finally club shoot weekend. I know it has been a long time between shoots, so let’s make this mothers day special. Come along and shoot some arrows at the ABA range. ususal 8am registration for 8:30am start – 3 arrow, sausage sizzle and 1 arrow to finish up. We have a couple of new families coming out this weekend too, so look forward to welcoming them to the club.
Last weekend we had 12 GFA members attend the state IFAA Titles at Saxon Bowhunters in Bundaberg. It was a great weekend, with some fantastic shooting and some PB’s were also set. Well done Peter and Narelle Watt, Mark Spiller, Paul Edwards, Callum and Ethan Dean – your first IFAA comp and both got GOLD, and the Carlson Clan. It was so good to see so many representing GFA and having such a good time. I will post the photos onto facebook.
There is a possibility that the Moranbah shoot the first weekend in June may be postponed to the following weekend as they local rodeo is also being run that weekend. I will keep you posted as soon as I hear. I heard on the weekend that the state ABA titles are on 9-10th June at Seaforth (near Mackay). this club is right near the beach and from all accounts is a fantastic spot.
If the Moranbah shoot is not on 2-3rd June, we will have a working bee at the club. Again, I will keep you posted.
If anyone is not going to the Gympie show and would like to take advantage of the public holiday, Todd is running coaching at the club next Friday 18th May. Please contact me for available times on 0405 102486.
See you at the club

I would like to give a big shout out to Peter and Narelle Watt for your awesome results at the Aussie Titles at Alice Springs. Narelle finished the 5 day IFAA shoot with gold, Peter bronze and was also selected as part of Central QLD team and they also received bronze. In the ABA competition Peter and Narelle both won silver, with a great recovery from Peter after his serving came unravelled on day one. Great shooting guys, and thank you so much for sharing your journey with us. You travelled a long way and looks like you had a great time. Looking forward to seeing your photo in the Gympie Times.
This was then followed up by 3d invitational shoot at Wide Bay Archers 21-22nd April. by all accounts this was a fun shoot, with one range being particularly challenging with targets way past standard group distances. GFA came away with a big haul of medals. Congratulations to our all of our cubs and juniors for your very first 3 d shoot and it was a clean sweep – Juniors – Cody Carlson gold, Ryan Carlson silver and Ethan Dean – one of our newest memebers with a bronze. Our Cubs, Ethans younger brother Callum Dean, Gold, Andre Carlson Silver, Lachlan Carlson bronze. Adults recurve Todd Carlson Silver, In the compound division Peter and Narelle both took out Gold.
It’s so wonderful to see our club members getting out and enjoying our sport and such fantastic results. Well done. Also A massive shout out to the Dean family too, who have only just joined and are getting out and both Ethan and Callum are shooting so well.
The mail match concluded in March, and results were posted in April. For those who didn’t see the results on the website or facebook page, I have attached them herewith.
